Back In Christchurch - Again

For those who don’t know, Paul was asked to substitute for a computer science teacher who is on sabbatical from the University of Canterbury in Christchurch, New Zealand.  So we are back in Christchurch from July - November 2017.  The Erskine Programme at the “Uni” funds about 70 scholars from other universities world-wide each year to teach courses at the University in various science departments.  The fund pays for our airfare, plus we get a place to live - we are grateful for this opportunity.

We arrived in Christchurch approximately 30 hours after we left our house in Eau Claire.

It was summer and 60-80 degrees in Eau Claire.  It’s winter and has been about 36-45 degrees here in Christchurch, but today both cities have high water due to heavy rainstorms.

Our flat is close to the University, is warm, has a well equipped kitchen and a great book selection.

Paul started lectures last Monday, and is busy teaching and doing other course work at the Uni.

Cindy has reconnected with volunteering at Willowbank Nature Reserve working with kiwi birds, volunteering at Harbour Co-op in Lyttelton (a Christchurch suburb), the newcomers walking group through the Uni, and a tramping group.  Plus we’ve rejoined the Farandol international folk dancers for Friday night dancing.
